Assistant Director: Internal Control and Compliance – x1 Post

Requirements:
A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Auditing, Accounting, Financial Management, or a related qualification with Accounting as a major subject, along with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in internal control, supply chain management, auditing, financial management, or a closely related field.
Applicants must have:

In-depth understanding of the public sector financial legislative framework (e.g. PFMA, Treasury Regulations, BBBEE Act, PPPFA)

Experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring financial and supply chain management policies

Working knowledge of systems such as BAS, LOGIS, and PERSAL (advantageous)

Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, administrative, and managerial skills

Duties:
-
Investigate cases of irregular, fruitless, and wasteful expenditure
-
Identify potential financial and fraud risks, and support the implementation of corrective actions
-
Test compliance with PFMA, Treasury Regulations, SCM, and HR prescripts
-
Highlight control weaknesses and provide findings to improve processes
-
Monitor audit recommendations (internal and external) and participate in audit steering committees
-
Track and report on the Irregular, Fruitless, and Wasteful Expenditure Registers

Conduct quarterly key control assessments and internal control reviews
-
Provide data analysis support and implement assurance processes
-
Support the development of departmental action plans in response to audit findings

Facilitate the loss control system and serve as Secretariat of the Loss Control Committee
