Takealot.com, South Africa’s leading online retailer, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to join Takealot Courier Services (TCS) in Cape Town.
As the Operations Manager, you will oversee and optimize courier operations, including inbound and outbound logistics, fleet and equipment management, customer service, and support for sales and marketing initiatives. You will be responsible for driving operational efficiency, maintaining service excellence, and leading a high-performing logistics team.
The Role
As the Operations Manager - TCS, your mission will be to manage and improve the performance of courier services within the Cape Town region. You will coordinate daily operations, oversee logistics performance, and ensure effective resource management to deliver outstanding service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
🚚 Operational Management

Manage daily courier activities including parcel collection, inbound and outbound logistics.

Ensure timely and efficient parcel handling and deliveries.

Allocate and optimize personnel, vehicles, and MHE (Material Handling Equipment).
🚐 Fleet & MHE Management

Oversee maintenance and optimal use of all vehicles and MHE.

Implement tracking systems to monitor fleet and equipment performance.

Maximize asset utilization through route optimization and trip planning.
💼 Sales & Marketing Support

Work with the Sales and Marketing teams to promote courier services.

Assist in maintaining strong client relationships and tracking sales performance.

Contribute to initiatives to meet sales targets.
👥 Leadership & Team Development

Lead, mentor, and train a team of drivers and operations staff.

Foster alignment with company standards and values through effective leadership.

Requirements
🎓 Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field.

Proven experience in courier/logistics operations management.

Extensive hands-on experience with ShipLogics.

Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and resources effectively.
