Takealot.com, South Africa’s leading online retailer, is looking for a skilled Finance Team Leader – Trade to join our Finance Team based in Cape Town.

The Role

As a Finance Team Leader, you will lead the Accounts Payable (AP) function related to trade vendors. You’ll guide a team, improve systems and processes, manage vendor relationships, and ensure financial operations run smoothly and accurately.

This position reports directly to the Accounts Payable Manager.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Team Leadership

• Manage and mentor a team of AP specialists

• Organize training sessions to build team capacity

• Conduct performance reviews and offer regular feedback

✅ Accounts Payable Operations

• Oversee timely and accurate invoice processing and payments

• Handle statement reconciliations and month-end AP close

• Ensure all activities comply with internal policies and external regulations

✅ Vendor Management

• Maintain healthy relationships with trade vendors

• Resolve disputes and ensure accurate account reconciliations

• Negotiate payment terms when needed

✅ Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy

• Work with IT and other departments to improve AP systems

• Strengthen internal financial controls

✅ Reporting & Compliance

• Provide monthly reports on AP metrics and balance sheet controls (e.g., GRIR)

• Support internal and external audit processes

Requirements

🎓 Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field

💼 Experience

• 4–5 years in Accounts Payable or a similar finance role

• Minimum of 2 years in a team leadership or supervisory position

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting

• Experience using accounting software (e.g., Sage, Oracle, SAP, etc.)
