The Role
The Researcher: Gender and Equality is responsible for delivering strategic and specialised research support to Members of Parliament and Committees, particularly in relation to oversight, legislative development, and public and international participation on gender-related matters. The incumbent will also provide high-level research to Senior Management and support the work of the Multi-Party Women’s Caucus in advancing gender equality, social justice, and inclusive governance.


Requirements

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Matric (Senior Certificate)

  • Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in one of the following or a related field:

    • Gender Studies

    • Social Sciences

    • Sociology

    • Public Policy

    • Political Science with a focus on gender

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant applied research experience in the field of gender-related policy, equality, and/or human rights

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Sound understanding of Parliamentary processes and legislative frameworks

  • Familiarity with the role, functions, and mandate of the Multi-Party Women’s Caucus

  • In-depth knowledge of gender equality legislation, national gender policies, and international gender rights frameworks

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct gender-sensitive research and provide evidence-based policy recommendations

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills to produce research papers, briefing notes, and policy briefs

  • Understanding of intersectionality and the impact of structural inequalities on women and marginalized groups

  • Capacity to support and advise on mainstreaming gender in legislative and policy processes

  • Research experience in social inclusion, women's empowerment, or related developmental issues

  • Project and time management skills to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
