The Role
The Researcher: Science, Technology and Innovation will provide strategic and evidence-based research support to Parliamentary Committees and Members in fulfilling their oversight, legislative, public and international participation responsibilities. The role also involves providing specialised research services to Senior Management of Parliament. The incumbent will focus on analysing developments in the science, technology, and innovation (STI) sector, and supporting decision-making processes through high-quality research outputs.
Requirements
Minimum Educational Qualifications:

Matric (Senior Certificate)
-
Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in one of the following fields:
-
Natural Sciences
-
Life Sciences
-
Environmental Sciences
-
or a related scientific discipline
-
Experience:
-
Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant applied policy research experience in the science, technology, and innovation (STI) sector
Knowledge and Skills:
-
Strong understanding of the legal, regulatory, and policy framework governing science, innovation, and technology in South Africa
-
Knowledge of current developments in emerging technologies, innovation systems, and scientific research trends
-
Ability to conduct evidence-based policy research and analysis
-
Familiarity with national and international science and innovation policies, strategies, and institutions
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical issues clearly to non-specialist audiences

Ability to support Parliamentary Committees with research and briefing documents on STI-related matters
-
Project and time management skills with a capacity to work under pressure and deliver high-quality outputs to tight deadlines
