The Role
The Researcher: Parliamentary and Constitutional Affairs is responsible for delivering strategic, high-quality research support to Members of Parliament and Committees. This includes support for oversight, law-making, and public and international participation functions. The incumbent will also provide specialised research and analytical services to Senior Management. A key aspect of this role is supporting the Constitutional Review Committee and engaging with national, continental, and international issues related to parliamentary and constitutional affairs.


Requirements

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Matric (Senior Certificate)

  • Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in one of the following or a related field:

    • Public Service and Administration

    • Political Science

    • Legal Studies

    • Constitutional Law

    • Public Law

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant applied research experience in a parliamentary, legal, or public policy context, particularly focused on constitutional matters or institutional governance.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep understanding of parliamentary structures, systems, and procedures

  • Knowledge of constitutional frameworks and national policy frameworks

  • Familiarity with continental and international parliamentary institutions and trends

  • Strong knowledge of public law and legal-political research methodologies

  • Experience supporting parliamentary committees, particularly those dealing with constitutional issues

  • Proficient in qualitative and policy-based research methodologies

  • Advanced writing, analytical, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to compile and present complex information clearly and objectively

  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
