Position: Assistant Store Manager – Mr Price Cellular
Location: South Coast, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (On-site)

We’re looking for a driven and customer-focused Assistant Store Manager to support the daily operations of a Mr Price Cellular store. In this role, you'll work closely with the Store Manager to achieve sales targets, deliver excellent customer service, and manage stock, staff, and operations effectively.


The Role

As Assistant Store Manager, you will:

Stock Management

  • Receive, unpack, and replenish stock on the sales floor

  • Monitor stock levels and conduct stock counts, stock loss control, and action plans

  • Keep the stockroom neat and organized

  • Assist with write-offs, breakages, returns, recalls, and cellular repairs

Sales & Profitability

  • Analyse sales reports and help plan actions to boost performance

  • Monitor product sales and provide feedback to head office

  • Look for new ways to grow sales and improve in-store marketing

  • Drive performance in credit, mobile, insurance, and cellular product sales

Risk Management

  • Support the store manager in performing compliance checks

  • Help with audits, security checks, admin processes, and health & safety standards

  • Ensure the store follows all company policies and procedures

Customer Experience

  • Ensure a smooth and professional customer journey

  • Oversee markdowns, promotions, product displays, and visual merchandising

  • Manage housekeeping and respond to customer feedback

Team Leadership & Development

  • Motivate and lead the team to reach store targets

  • Identify training needs and support staff growth

  • Handle recruitment, staff performance, and development

  • Support talent management and succession planning


Requirements

  • Matric (NQF Level 4) or equivalent qualification

  • Minimum of 3 years’ retail experience (management experience is a bonus)

  • Strong understanding of sales and service management

  • Able to work with budgets and track store performance

  • Computer literate and able to generate reports

  • Strong communication and team leadership skills

  • Solid knowledge of retail operations and customer service

  • Knowledge of cellular, mobile, credit, and insurance products
