Job Description

The Shoprite Trainee Accountant Programme is a SAICA-accredited training initiative designed for aspiring Chartered Accountants [CA(SA)]. This programme provides accounting graduates and students with a unique opportunity to complete their SAICA training contract within a dynamic retail environment. Participants receive structured training, mentorship, and industry exposure to help them meet SAICA’s prescribed learning outcomes.

The Role

As a Trainee Accountant, you will:

• Gain hands-on experience across various departments within Shoprite’s business operations.

• Be mentored by experienced professionals and receive academic support.

• Develop the technical and professional skills required to successfully complete the SAICA APC exam.

• Contribute meaningfully to the finance function of Africa’s largest retail group.

Who Can Apply

• Final-year accounting students

• Accounting graduates (eligible for a SAICA training contract)

Requirements

• Enrolled in or completed a BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification that meets SAICA requirements

• Strong academic performance and commitment to becoming a CA(SA)

• South African citizenship or legal eligibility to work in South Africa
