Requirements:

A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Auditing, Accounting, Financial Management, or a related qualification with Accounting as a major subject, along with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in internal control, supply chain management, auditing, financial management, or a closely related field.

Applicants must have:

  • In-depth understanding of the public sector financial legislative framework (e.g. PFMA, Treasury Regulations, BBBEE Act, PPPFA)

  • Experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring financial and supply chain management policies

  • Working knowledge of systems such as BAS, LOGIS, and PERSAL (advantageous)

  • Financial management and internal control system expertise

  • High-level confidentiality and time management under pressure

  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, administrative, and managerial skills

  • Conflict resolution, information interpretation, and policy formulation abilities

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting

  • Adaptability, reliability, and the ability to manage change


Duties:

  • Investigate cases of irregular, fruitless, and wasteful expenditure

  • Identify potential financial and fraud risks, and support the implementation of corrective actions

  • Test compliance with PFMA, Treasury Regulations, SCM, and HR prescripts

  • Highlight control weaknesses and provide findings to improve processes

  • Monitor audit recommendations (internal and external) and participate in audit steering committees

  • Track and report on the Irregular, Fruitless, and Wasteful Expenditure Registers

  • Conduct quarterly key control assessments and internal control reviews

  • Provide data analysis support and implement assurance processes

  • Support the development of departmental action plans in response to audit findings

  • Facilitate the loss control system and serve as Secretariat of the Loss Control Committee
