The Role

Key Responsibilities (depending on the post applied for)

• Develop, implement and review policies and strategies that drive digital inclusion and innovation.

• Manage ICT projects that expand broadband infrastructure and public access points.

• Promote cybersecurity awareness, digital literacy, and e-government adoption.

• Provide legal, regulatory, and compliance oversight within the communications and digital space.

• Support national ICT development goals through stakeholder engagement and intergovernmental coordination.

• Conduct research, analysis, and monitoring of technological trends to inform decision-making.

• Facilitate capacity-building programmes and partnerships to boost digital skills across communities.

• Educational Qualifications:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (Diploma, Bachelor's or Honours degree) in fields such as:

    • Information Technology

    • Computer Science

    • Communications

    • Public Policy

    • Law

    • Electronics/Engineering

    • Data Science

    • Public Administration

    • Economics

    • or related disciplines.

• Experience:

  • Varies by position, but generally includes 1–10+ years in the relevant field.

  • Prior experience in public service, ICT policy, project management, or digital innovation is an advantage.

• Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of the digital ecosystem and ICT landscape in South Africa.

  • Ability to think strategically and align work with national development goals.

  • Excellent communication, research, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
