Nedbank External Bursary Programme 2025

Nedbank is committed to fostering the development of South Africa's youth by providing opportunities for academically deserving students to pursue higher education. The Nedbank External Bursary Programme aims to support students who demonstrate financial need and are pursuing their first undergraduate or honours degree at a South African public university or university of technology.

What Does the Bursary Cover?

The bursary offers comprehensive financial support to ensure that recipients can focus on their studies without financial strain. While specific details may vary, the bursary typically covers:

  • Tuition Fees: Full coverage of academic fees.

  • Accommodation: On-campus or approved off-campus housing.

  • Textbooks and Study Materials: Provision of required learning resources.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Nedbank External Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements

  1. Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.

  2. Academic Performance: Achieved a minimum average of 65% in the year of application (Grade 12 or university level).

  3. Subject Requirements: Completed Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy).

  4. University Admission: Proof of admission to a South African public university or university of technology for the intended qualification.

  5. Financial Need: Demonstrated financial need, as determined by household income.

Application Process

The application process for the Nedbank External Bursary Programme involves several steps:

  1. Online Application: Submit your application online through the official Nedbank bursary portal.

  2. Supporting Documents: Provide certified copies of your South African identity document, academic transcripts, and proof of admission to the university.

  3. Financial Checks Affidavit: Complete and submit the financial checks affidavit, signed by both the applicant and their parent(s) or guardian(s).
